About AI4PEP Project

AI4PEP (Artificial Intelligence for Pandemic and Epidemic Preparedness & Response) is a Global-South-centered initiative launched in 2022 with generous support from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada.
The network has funded 15+ projects in over 20 countries, developing AI tools for outbreak detection, health systems modeling, and policy engagement. AI4PEP connects researchers, policymakers, and communities to co-create ethical, inclusive, and impactful AI solutions for public health.

Dr. Jude Kong

Dr. Jude Kong is the founding Executive Director of the AI4PEP network. He is a data scientist, applied mathematician, and public health researcher committed to advancing responsible AI across the Global South. Through AI4PEP, he champions equitable collaboration and Southern-led innovation to transform health systems and pandemic preparedness.
