AI4PEP Senegal launches Plateforme 3S One Health

AI-Based Platform for Zoonotic Disease Surveillance in Senegal Goes Live

In the fight against zoonotic diseases, leveraging technology to bridge gaps in surveillance and response is crucial. AI4PEP Senegal has taken a significant step forward with the introduction of an AI-powered intersectoral platform designed to support community-based monitoring and management of zoonotic threats. This innovative platform integrates artificial intelligence with local health systems to provide timely insights, improve communication, and enhance decision-making at all levels.

This innovative platform is equipped to empower health professionals, community members, and stakeholders with real-time insights and tools to enhance the early detection and management of zoonotic diseases.

The platform offers three core functionalities, each inspired by the Wolof language to reflect local engagement and cultural relevance:

  1. Taggàt (“train” in Wolof)
An AI-powered zoonotic disease chatbot that provides ongoing support to health professionals, communities, and health surveillance stakeholders. Taggàt aims to improve knowledge and awareness of zoonotic diseases, enabling users to access reliable information and guidance at their fingertips.
  2. Jottali (“transmission” in Wolof)
A robust alert function that facilitates the communication of health signals following unusual or unexpected events that could significantly impact public health. This feature ensures timely reporting and coordination among key stakeholders, enhancing the responsiveness of the health system.
  3. Gëstu (“learn, analyze” in Wolof)
A real-time risk management dashboard designed for community alert actors and decision-makers. Gëstu provides valuable insights, analytics, and responses to citizens’ inquiries, supporting informed decision-making and proactive interventions.

This groundbreaking initiative reflects AI4PEP’s commitment to strengthening health security, pandemic preparedness, and advancing the One Health approach in Senegal by integrating AI with community-driven approaches. Through this platform, we aim to empower local communities, healthcare providers, and policymakers to work collaboratively in preventing and managing zoonotic diseases.
