General Objectives

To address the feasibility and value of wastewater based surveillance for antimicrobial resistance towards a warning and AMR mitigation approach.

Specific Objectives

1. To conduct wastewater based AMR surveillance for 5 crucial drugs (carbapenem, methicillin, azithromycin, bedaquiline and fluoroquinolones) in the vulnerable settings (slums) of Mumbai.

2. To develop an AI based algorithm to collate the AMR data generated from wastewater and the local information from the community.

3. To disseminate/mobilize the knowledge generated on AMR in the study to various stakeholders and local/national regulatory bodies and to the local community for early detection, early response and for AMR mitigation planning.
